HubSpot updates for Revenue Operations in Q4

Sales users are pushed out of the help desk, lists are finally getting exclusion settings, and Boolean values are becoming stricter. Do you know how the upcoming updates are going to affect your CRM configuration?

HubSpot is staying true to their habit of frequently updating and improving their solution. With hundreds of updates every week, it can be a challenge to get a good overview of what is relevant for you. This is why I decided to write this summary of some of the updates that will have a direct impact on your CRM setup in Q4 2024.

Keep in mind that I can't include everything here, so it is still a good idea to look out for updates that could impact your company. You can find all updates, and more information about the updates mentioned here in the Product updates page in your HubSpot portal.

Active lists are getting exclusion filters

Currently being tested in a private beta, active lists are about to get some more options in the "Settings" tab. If you haven't seen this, you can set up notifications for significant changes to a list already. This tab is about to be expanded with new options to convert to a static list, and finally also with exclusion criteria.

For those of you with a lot of filter groups, you no longer have to edit every single one every single time.

Here is a screenshot from HubSpot, showcasing what this will look like.

There is currently not set a release date for this update, but you can request to join the beta in your product updates page in HubSpot, under the name "Quickly Exclude Records from Active Lists"

Sales users will be pushed out of the help desk

While no date is set at this time, HubSpot has announced that users will require a Service seat in order to be eligible for ticket assignment in the help desk. When the update is released, users without a service seat activated will simply be skipped from rotation, and if no users in the rotation have an eligible seat, the ticket will remain unassigned! Make sure to review your routing rules to make sure you are ahead of this update.

Find more details in your product updates page under the label "SUNSET: Automatic ticket assignment for sales-seated users in Help desk".

Stricter validation for "Single checkbox" properties

The "Single checkbox" property type, also known as a soft Boolean is about to get stronger validation rules, affecting imported spreadsheets and updates from integrations.

Up until now, these properties has accepted a variation of inputs like 1 or 0, and "yes" or "no". With this update, only values of true, false, or an empty string will be accepted, so you may have to update your integrations if you have been using the other formats.
It remains unclear how the API will handle values like "true" and "false"-strings (as opposed to Boolean values, or undefined values, but based on the information so far, we assume these will also be rejected as new input.

The update is expected to release 20th November 2024, but you can already request to join the beta in order to test and update your integrations. Find the update in your product updates page under the name "Validations for Boolean Properties".
